Detail from Christmas Card

We have turned the heating on at last so I am a bit warmer and am no longer painting in two fleeces and a warm scarf. I am about to varnish three small oil paintings for inclusion in the Eynsham Arts Group Exhibition which starts on the 22nd of November. All will be suitable for Christmas gifts.

Experiment

Still drawing my Christmas card. I have shown you a section where I was playing around with Photoshop filters. Experimenting/playing in Photoshop is fun as nothing is lost.

It is flipping cold in the studio and I am reluctant to turn on the heating. So I am going to be doing a lot more drawing this winter as my room is the warmest place in the house.

Into the Darkness, Swinford Toll Bridge

I finished this with oil pastels. I find the texture and movement put down with oil paint very interesting but the small size of the canvas stopped me from getting into the detail. Good or bad? I need time before I can decide.

"See how the lilies of the field grow."

My daughter R gave me some amazing lilies. So at breakfast over the last week I have been doing some drawings from life.

'Senecio Press & Creative Art Gallery Open Art Competition'

My picture 'The Christmas Apple' is one of the shortlisted entries to the 'Senecio Press & Creative Art Gallery Open Art Competition'. It will be exhibited in The Henmans Garden Gallery in the grounds of The Oxfordshire Museum throughout 'Art in Woodstock', a major visual arts festival to be held in Woodstock from 25th October – 2nd November 2008.

Christmas Card 2008

Started work on my Christmas card with the idea that I wanted an image of Eynsham Morris trudging through the snow. This time of year the light goes early and my studio is cold. So I am working in Photoshop in my warm bedroom. The drawing is unfinished but I had some fun using the 'filters' in Photoshop

This and That

Janus is finished. I kept it very graphic which made it the easiest painting. I enjoy mythology which is why it is a reoccurring theme in my paintings. The "tunnel" or "flames" he is walking through is my opening front door.




Dryad is still not right and I have yet again painted out her left arm and hand. When I painted out M I did not hide the repainting of the image. I like the idea of the 'process' showing on the ... eventually ... finished picture. So I struggle on well out of my comfort zone.





I am trying not to get bogged down in detail with Darkness. I do keep forgetting!!!!
