'Bones' update

Realised that I was getting hooked up on the anatomy and not on the picture. I have reached my comfort zone and was reluctant to commit to the ideas I had for this painting. I am going to be as surprised as you are ... I am now exploring unknown territory.

Drawing bones

Sorry about the poor scan but my drawing book is a nice thick one which does not fit the scanner well. My new anatomy book is very helpfull but real understanding still needs access to a skeleton.

This is a small, unfinished, canvas of a Pico dingy at Farmoor Reservoir. I am exhibiting there as part of the Artweeks Festival in May. This link will take you to the details of this exhibition.

My daughter works as a sailing instructor there in the summer. You can see my photography there at my other blog.

Been a busy girl

This one is getting close to completion. The knife needs finishing. Then put out of sight for at least two weeks so I can look at it with fresh eyes.
This is the under painting for 'bones of steel'. I have found this very personal painting very difficult. Once the basic sketch has been done I can normally almost "see" the finished painting. I have done an acrylic under painting so I can develop the work.

I have been an "art tart' for to long and always painted with the intention of selling it for room decoration. This painting has shocked some friends. I am showing myself exposed to bone level ... damage has been done but there is still strength ... life costs. I carry in my lap a spear and spear thrower ... still dangerous.

Feed back for good or bad would be very welcome.

Oestre

The Easter weekend was a good time with the family. I have resolved some of the problems with this image by allowing it to evolve. This is a merge of several scans and poped into Photoshop because I was getting fed up with experimenting on paper. So there is a way to go yet. I need to point out that she is holding a spear and a spear thrower.

The art of anatomy

I have three anatomy books and the whole of the Internet to find the information I wanted for my bones. Result ... hours spent looking. Still need to spend time with a articulated skeleton.

I had not intended this painting to be an accurate anatomy drawing but did at least think I was going to choose what I changed.
So not a good drawing but one of exploration and learning.
