Paul

Paul

Drawing allows me to move away from the photo and gain personal perspective on the subject. Here I was not only looking for likeness but exploring values (light or dark) as Paul's colouring is very pale. My hope is this will allow me to 'design' my use of colour and not just reproduce his chroma.

Evenlode DIY

Evenlode DIY

Evenlode DIY, Eynsham
watercolour paint on paper
15. x 19. 8 cm
Lorna Marrison

A watercolour painting of the Evenlode DIY from last November on a very grey day.  I was surprised not to have to contend with parked cars. Yes ... it is my bike parked up against the wall. I try and paint to the size of the pre cut mounts but once again I managed to to get the mesurements wrong so it will be framed at Cuckoo Nest. It will be for sale along with prints for Oxford Artweeks in May.

Trish - the chatelaine

Trish

Drawing was done in the attempt to simplify the controled chaos in the DIY. The next step is to add the colour.

Eynsham Emeralds finished

Eysham Emeralds

This is as far as I need to take the drawing. When painting this panel I shall make the coat of arms a bit bigger so it will be easier to paint and balance the composition.
