For my Son


I stopped seeing this as my face and got interested in trying to show the soft flesh. This was a struggle so I lost the freshness of watercolour in my efforts.

I was surprised to see how much I looked like my mother. Everyone else saw how much K and R look like me.

Well done. !! Self portraits are a mare to do and you have captured yourself perfectly here. Sure K must be delighted!

K claims that he does not want to see it till Christmas ... I think he has peeked ... so will update with his response in the new year.

I am running still on the angst of 'problems' and not looking at the 'whole' with this painting. Time will allow me to look with a clear eye. Your encouraging words have settled some of my anxiety ... it does look like me!
