"Bones" is done!

I have signed the painting and will need to varnish mid December. This painting took me through some very interesting processes both technical and personal.

Still a Curate's Egg!

This painting has moved forward. The rib cage is beginning to be fine and the head needs finishing. I am still not sure about it and end up doing chores as displacement activity!!!!!

Updates - watching paint dry & diverse things

My oil paintings are still too wet to paint on yet. Sigh! I think it will be at least another week before I can even consider trying.

I experimented last night with printing my own business cards. I used some perforated card stock and discovered that you can not print on the back. The pictures on the back bleed out into some interesting patterns but otherwise unusable. The quality of the card stock is no where as nice as the professionally printed cards I used to have but it will have the advantage of at least being easy to update and cheap.

Bones are great

I feel that the arm is beginning to work and hope to do the same thing with the rib cage. The figure needs to be darker and the red of the bedding will need to be toned down. During the last few weeks I have hit the "wall" with this painting and, as always, with perseverance things are coming together.

This painting started as a meditation on the damage that life has done to me and to show that I was strong still. During the painting I realised that I was also showing my pain. This is a tough painting.

Decisions are difficult

Still thinking on this one. Do not take the flesh colours as settled yet. I am beginning to feel that I understand this painting now ... I hope!

Drawing bones

Sorry about the poor scan but my drawing book is a nice thick one which does not fit the scanner well. My new anatomy book is very helpfull but real understanding still needs access to a skeleton.

Oestre

The Easter weekend was a good time with the family. I have resolved some of the problems with this image by allowing it to evolve. This is a merge of several scans and poped into Photoshop because I was getting fed up with experimenting on paper. So there is a way to go yet. I need to point out that she is holding a spear and a spear thrower.

The art of anatomy

I have three anatomy books and the whole of the Internet to find the information I wanted for my bones. Result ... hours spent looking. Still need to spend time with a articulated skeleton.

I had not intended this painting to be an accurate anatomy drawing but did at least think I was going to choose what I changed.
So not a good drawing but one of exploration and learning.
