Teacups and geese

I am hot. My house is hot and by noon my brain have melted. So no real painting yet.

Oxford Lunch

Right day and right place for lunch with my friend in Oxford. Drew the above picture of the Clarendon Building while waiting for her. We lunched at The King's Arms and then a visit to the Ashmolean with a lot of talking.

Bust

It is hot! I went to Oxford to meet up with a girl friend I did my degree with and have lunch. While there discovered that I was due to meet tomorrow. The trouble with the bohemian life style is that I am a little vague as to where I am in the month.

Time to dry

Snaps to show where I have got to with Dryad. Behind her head is darkness with oblique light showing form. The figure is lit in full light. The tree has more light at this level but from a less oblique angle.

The area where I painted M out is in darkness. I have used Artisan Water Mixable Painting Medium mixed with paint for glazing the darks. It works well but takes a seriously long time to dry and the picture must be covered as all the dust will adhere to its surface. When I am in the funds I think I will try a bottle of the Artisan Water Mixable Fast Drying Medium.

So this will be a good time to rest her for a fortnight covered from view. When I return to her I can see with fresh eyes and hopefully not feeling so dark. I shall show pictures from my drawing book during this time.

A post removed!

I have removed my previous post linking to Art News Blog. When looking at the search terms which had lead to increased hits to my blog found that people where actively looking for inappropriate images using the key words from the title.

Evil comes in many forms and I think I may have paved the road to Hell with my good intentions.

Rain and the Dark

It has not been a good week for painting with the rain making it very dark. I went out with my friend Miss T on the best day to see the churches at South Leigh and Fairford.

Ashmolean Museum

A rainy and dark Sunday which is to dark to paint in the studio and after the fun of Eynsham Carnival yesterday I feel a little flat. So I spent the afternoon in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford re-acquainting myself with their Pre-Raphaelite collection which has finally been rehung and drawing roman statues.

Revisiting Old Harry

Using ink and watercolour I painted with vigor in order to get the movement I wanted but got the red mist of brush fever instead. "Put down the brush and step away until the paint is dry!" I will try again.
