First Lick of paint

Started painting today. I am feeling my way as I go along. This is the first time I have tried using crayons for a painting.

Close.

Closer
Sorry the focus is fuzzy but I find taking close ups to be difficult. It does allow you to see some of the mark making

The artist tools or "messy Mum" as my daughter says. I spent some of my early years being educated in America and a new box of Crayola crayons each "Fall Term" gave me much pleasure. A friend sent me a link to the American Crayola site as I was moaning that the boxes were bigger and better there.

Crayoning the Malingerer

I am going to use an old technique learnt when I was a little girl. Crayola crayons being the best to lay down initial colour and then painting over with watercolour paints.

The wax resists the paint and the possibilities are endless.

Made my mind up and have put a new page for contacting me on the Eynsham Gods web site.

Malingerer again

Have decided to paint this scene again for myself. The drawing from last time has been finished now and I am now drawing up a big watercolour (65 cm wide). The original painting was small ("Has to fit between the port holes.") which made it difficult to explore mark making.

'Email me' image & Employment

I have been designing this for my web pages but I am not confident about it so will leave it here for a few days. Fresh eyes makes for clear thinking ... Most of the time!

I have been applying for full time employment as a illustrator designer. This is the first time I am looking for employment without networking. Have found it very difficult.

My Website

I have,at last, constructed a portfolio web-site using the free Googlepages. I found it's WYSIWYG editor confused me as much as it helped and had to search for some answers at the Google Pages Discussion group. I still ended up writing lots of html code. I have to include more details but am unsure, beyond materials and techniques, what to include. So your thoughts and suggestions would be welcome. I will be putting an 'email me' logo image shortly as this seems to be the simplest way to avoid spamming as there is no filter for it on Googlepages.
