"Watching paint dry!"

Paint drying time again. I am finding it difficult to photo these paintings well. Shall have to be very careful for the last one to go on the portfolio site. Click on the pictures to enlarge them.

Piston

Image drawn for a logo ... unseen structure.

"Bones of steel! "

I have scanned in the whole sketch for the next painting.

I was interested in the idea of strength being the unseen part of me i.e. bones, character and, of course, the fact that inside I was slim ...

I know little of how my skeleton is articulated and looking at anatomy books is not that helpful. I have no idea whese I could spend time with a skeleton.

This is the photo of me with my premature twins a month after they had been born ... they will be 21 years old in a few days time. I was standing and functioning by strength of will ... the flesh was weak.

Updates on 'Lucy' & 'Constraint"

I am still continuing with this study but have not managed to get Miss T's creamy skin and soft curves.

Comparing this painting to the original sketch I am in a "better place" emotionally. I`m really getting into oil paint and it is making me think harder because I can not rely on my painting experience.

Oil painting and other things

It has been a long time since I have done any oil painting. I was disconcerted by the slowness of paint drying at first but now I find that it suits the meditation I need to resolve a painting. The ability to make continued adjustments is fantastic and I am able to develop initial ideas further. So 'Future' has been set aside for the moment to allow the paint to dry before I tackel the knife. I have started the drawing on canvas of 'Constraint'. I hope to blog this tonight ...

"Eynsham Gods" have reached the mile-stone of a 1,000 page loads. I am encouraged that people are interested in my work and some are regular returners. I find it difficult to work in isolation so it would be very nice if you left your thoughts, questions, criticism and as always praise. You can do this by clicking on the pencil icon at the bottom of each post.

Constraint

Under drawing for the oil painting using watercolour pencil. I've used retouch varnish to keep the outlines. Thank you Miss T for modeling.

Adams Chair 2

I think the chair is very nice but it does not do anything for L's curvey bottom when she is posed sunk into the chair. I like the bottom ... which would you choose?

A Future 1

This shows the original sketch with my written notations around it. It was a meditation upon a photo of my son when he about 6 years dressed up as a soldier. He was wearing long shorts, a round basket with clothes pegs clipped to it for a helmet and a plastic sword stuck into a belt. He was pleased with himself but I realized that he could become anything in the future including getting himself killed in the service of his country. He is now in his 21st year and is starting the interview process of going into the police.
