Second Pass

Second Pass

This is the second pass on 'Jim's Family'. All looking very pale still as I am putting the under-painting into place. I am adjusting structure and I am unsure how to deal with the shirring on Sarah's top. Painting is all about problem solving.

Our local Bread Ship

Eynsham Bread Shop

I have spent the week drawing this view of our local bread shop whilst waiting for the oil paint to dry on my other paintings. Eynsham is a large commuter village that manages to keep it's sense of comunity.

Under painting of the flesh

Under painting of the flesh

This is the under painting of the flesh with a little bit drawing in oil on the figures. They look very pale because the glazing of colour will darken the darks. I am very happy with the composition of the figures. It is not traditional but does show this family's liveliness.

The Beginning

Jim's Family

Whilst I wait for the cat painting to dry enough to do more painting I have made a start on 'Jim's Family'.  It's on a 40 z 60 cm extra fine grained, oil primed canvas. I have transfer the drawing on to the canvas with graphite and you can now see the start of the underpainting.
