I am still thinking of doing a larger oil painting of the Morris men. This study shows me that I am still getting bogged down in the local colour of things and not 'designing' the look.

Stomp
Stomp |
Eynsham morris on the first day of dance in the morning when they are fresh and sober. I usually paint in watercolour and then ink but this time I have reversed the order. I wanted to explore the lighting of this scene and as a result this drawing has taken me HOURS! I may try out the colours I plan in Photoshop first as I am trying colours outside my comfort zone.
